The Story
Circularity meets light art. The ambition is to create the world’s largest circular chandelier with the involvement of thousands of people and to present it during GLOW Eindhoven 2025.
This unique co-creation between Signify and vanPetnaarPret demonstrates how a large and small company, sharing the same message, can collaborate to create an even greater impact. By combining their strengths, they transform waste into light art and inspire people in the process.
The chandelier will not only be a feast for the eyes but will also symbolize connection and co-creation through the energy of all those involved. By recycling plastic waste streams together, participants become linked in an eruption of lamps that together form the light artwork.
The fragmented waste streams are transformed into light spheres, which, combined with Signify’s 3D-printed lighting made from recycled and bio-circular waste materials such as water bottles, create a stunning display.
GLOW Eindhoven ’24
At GLOW 2024, the Chandelier of Connection project was officially launched. Hellen van der Plan (CEO Signify Benelux) and Jeroen Dijsselbloem (Mayor of Eindhoven) kicked off the initiative.

Chandelier of Connection Tour
During the kickoff at GLOW ’24, more than 2,000 people have already recycled using the special recycling bike. The energy of the participants shredded thousands of old PET bottles (without a deposit).
This year, the recycling bikes will go on tour through Eindhoven and Helmond, visiting various locations such as schools, businesses, community centers, and events. The goal is to create as many connections as possible with people and organizations in the Chandelier of Connection.

The Co-creators
Rolph Adriaansen (vanPetnaarPret)
Born in Woensdrecht and raised on a mushroom farm, Rolph graduated in business economics after an extensive study period. He then worked at a bank for several years before deciding in 2007 to become a full-time entrepreneur—without yet knowing exactly in what field, but with the ambition to help people enjoy life more.
This led to the creation of vanPETnaarPRET in 2016, a concept designed to teach children about recycling in a fun way, starting with the PET bottle. The project grew, culminating in the unveiling of Chandelier Ø13 in the LocHal—a personal highlight. This event opened an entirely new and unexpected chapter in the world of art. While Rolph does not consider himself a true artist, he sees himself as an entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, and creator.
Signify
After the sun, nothing shines brighter than Signify. And with that comes responsibility. As the world’s largest lighting company and a key innovator in our industry, Signify plays a crucial role in creating a more sustainable world.
As born innovators, we don’t ask “why?”, but “why not?”. True innovation and performance can only be achieved through continuous learning and collaboration.
